History of the hell hole

Called The Glory of His Presence, the play focused on God’s motivation for creating man – which is to worship Him and to live in His abiding presence. The hour-long production was a musical extravaganza of song and dance with colourful banners and flags.

During December 1995, my brother whom was 9 years younger than me was murdered two weeks before Christmas. That made me realise how fragile life actually is and I was prompted to write The Hell Hole. The Hell Hole takes an in-depth look at how the forces of darkness operate in everyday life situations, manipulating people to do things that are contrary to their moral standards and norms. It addresses modern day issues and puts the audience before a choice between life and death, blessing or curse and ultimately, heaven or hell.

Invitations for The Hell Hole started coming in and I have been producing it all over South Africa. Since then, The Hell Hole has been staged in 47churches, where it was seen by over 316 500 people and over 34 172 people came to salvation so far.

DAVID BEZUIDENHOUT

Writer of The Hell Hole

I was Assistant Pastor in Open Doors Christian Church, Uitenhage, for approximately 5 years where my wife, Karin, and I were Worship leaders and did pastoral duties. Being involved in drama and theatre has always been my dream. I first tried my hand at a ‘production of sorts’ in 1995. It was nothing major, just a small Christmas concert with a simple story line, a few original songs complete with a dance or two. In 1996 I wrote and staged my first ‘big’ play, which coincided with the opening of Open Doors Christian Church’s new building. extravaganza of song and dance with colourful banners and flags.
